A Gospel Primer for Christians by Milton Vincent is simple in the extreme, but Vincent’s message (reflected in the subtitle Learning to See the Glories of God’s Love) is as compelling as it is straightforward: that the gospel, rehearsed daily, gives Christians so much power that all the promises of God are within reach for all of us. His book is split into a list of reasons to put the gospel before ourselves daily, a prose rewording of the gospel, a versified rewording of the gospel, and a short personal story about how this understanding has changed his life.
Vincent’s book makes an excellent daily meditation. Its biblical message really has the effect that Vincent promises: the gospel does change our perspective. During my time reading, it’s certainly changed mine.
“God did not give us His gospel just so we could embrace it and be converted. He offers it to us every day as a gift that keeps on giving us everything we need for life and godliness. Here is a valuable tool to preach the gospel to yourself daily to strengthen your faith and define what you believe and why.” (Amazon description)
